Francesco Milita(*Latina, Italy 1967) |
In addition to being a composer, pianist and choir conductor, Francesco Milita
teaches Choral Music & Conducting at the National Academy of Music in Sassari.
He was born in Latina and started studying music from an early age; when just
15, he was invited to represent Italy as a pianist at the International Festival
of the Peace Flag in Sofia, Bulgaria.
He perfected his piano skills with a few precious lessons from Vincenzo Vitale and through studying under Boris Petrushanskij. His subsequent studies with the great composer Franco Donatoni were also highly influential. He attended a course on film music held by Ennio Morricone and studied organ with J. E. Goettsche, first organist at St Peter's Cathedral in Rome.
He has twice won the S.I.A.E (The Italian Composers and Publishers' Society) Prize for Composition, awarded by the Chigiana Academy in Siena. He has received several prizes in national competitions, in Messina, Rome and Reggio Emilia, for example, and won the First Prize at the "Paolo Valenti" Choral Composition Competition in Rome, as well as the First Prize and Special Public Prize at the International "Oggidiane" Competition in Pescara. His musical activities have been combined with a great interest in teaching, which has often led him to be rewarded in this field as well, including the First Prize at the "International Competition for Composition for primary schools", the Second Prize (the First Prize was not awarded) at the "Suoni di Fiaba" International Competition for Composition for Children by Vittorio Veneto and the First Prize at the "National Competition for Teaching Choral Composition", in Pontremoli.
A regular conductor of the A.N.A. Choir of Latina, he has conducted and played the piano in international festivals all over Italy and Europe. He has written more than a hundred compositions that have been performed and played throughout Europe, the U.S.A., Japan and Argentina.
He has had works published by the following publishing houses: "La Cartellina"
